Berlin Anmeldung form in English
Answer the questions in English and download Berlin's official registration form (Anmeldung bei der Meldebehörde), filled in, in German. Print it, sign it and take it to your Bürgeramt appointment.
This is the form used by every Bürgeramt in Berlin. It's one page, with room for you and one family member.
Questions about the form
- Does the Bürgeramt accept a form filled in online?
- Yes. This is Berlin's official PDF with your answers typed in. The printed page is identical to the one at the counter. Sign it by hand before your appointment.
- What's the difference between Hauptwohnung and Nebenwohnung?
- If this is the only flat you have registered in Germany, tick "alleinige Wohnung" (only home). If you keep another registered flat, the one you live in most is your Hauptwohnung and the other is your Nebenwohnung.
- What should I write for religion?
- Members of a church or community that collects church tax (Protestant, Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, and the Jewish community in Berlin) pay Kirchensteuer on top of income tax. If you aren't a member of one, choose none or another religion and no church tax applies.
- I'm moving from abroad. What goes in the previous address fields?
- Only the country you moved from, in the field "Bei Zuzug aus dem Ausland Staat". Leave the previous address and move-out date empty.
- Which date goes in the "Datum" column for my passport?
- The date of issue. The expiry date goes in "gültig bis".
- What else do I need to bring?
- Your passport or ID card, your visa or residence permit if you have one, and the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung signed by your landlord. A rental contract does not replace the Wohnungsgeberbestätigung.
- Do you store what I type?
- No. The form is filled in your browser and downloaded to your device. If you're signed in, we read your profile to prefill fields, but nothing you type here is sent to us.
